Personal Injury Law Firm
How a mid-sized personal injury firm transformed its client acquisition strategy, cut costs by more than half, and became a dominant digital presence in one of Florida's most competitive legal markets.
The Client
A mid-sized personal injury law firm with 4 attorneys, operating in one of the most competitive legal markets in Florida. The firm had been relying almost entirely on television advertising and billboard placements for lead generation — channels that were becoming increasingly expensive with diminishing returns. The managing partner recognized that the firm's digital presence was years behind competitors who were dominating Google search results and building authority through content marketing.
The Challenge
When the firm came to us, they were facing a convergence of problems that were eroding profitability and limiting growth:
- Spending $25,000/month on TV ads with no tracking or attribution
- Website was outdated, had no blog, and thin service pages that read like legal textbook entries
- Only 8 Google reviews despite 15 years of practice — and 2 were negative with no responses
- Competitors were running aggressive PPC campaigns bidding $200+ per click on "personal injury lawyer" keywords
- No social media presence whatsoever — the firm viewed it as "unprofessional"
- Cost per acquired case was over $4,200 and climbing year over year
The firm was spending more to get fewer cases, with zero visibility into which channels were actually producing results. They needed a complete digital transformation — but they also needed it done strategically, given the high cost of entry in the legal advertising space.
The Approach
We developed a phased strategy that minimized risk while building compounding digital assets. Rather than trying to outspend competitors on paid media alone, we focused on creating a sustainable ecosystem that would reduce acquisition costs over time.
Phase 1: Competitive Intelligence (Weeks 1-4)
We analyzed the top 5 competitors' digital strategies to find exploitable gaps. We mapped their content, backlink profiles, ad strategies, and review presence. The key discovery: none of them were investing in AI-optimized content or video testimonials. This gave us two clear lanes to establish early authority.
Phase 2: Content Authority Building (Weeks 2-8)
We developed a library of 30+ in-depth practice area pages and educational articles, each optimized for how AI assistants and search engines surface legal information. Instead of targeting only high-volume head terms, we focused on long-tail queries real people actually ask — questions like "what to do after a car accident if the other driver has no insurance" and "how long do I have to file an injury claim in Florida."
Each piece was written to be authoritative enough for AI assistants to cite, while remaining accessible to someone dealing with the stress of a personal injury situation.
Phase 3: Paid Media Restructuring (Weeks 4-12)
We shifted 40% of the firm's TV budget to targeted PPC and Meta campaigns with hyper-specific landing pages for each practice area. Instead of bidding on broad "personal injury lawyer" terms at $200+ per click, we built campaigns around specific case types and scenarios with lower competition and higher intent. We also built lookalike audiences from existing client data to improve targeting efficiency on social platforms.
Phase 4: Reputation Rehabilitation (Weeks 6-16)
We responded professionally to the two negative reviews — acknowledging concerns while maintaining attorney-client confidentiality. Then we launched a systematic post-settlement review request program, reaching out to satisfied clients at the moment they were most appreciative of the firm's work. We also created video testimonials with consenting clients, giving prospective clients real stories from real people.
Phase 5: Social Authority (Ongoing)
We built a LinkedIn thought leadership program for the managing partner, positioning them as a trusted voice on personal injury law in Florida. On Instagram, we published educational content breaking down legal concepts into plain language. Community involvement posts — sponsorships, local events, pro bono work — built the firm's local presence and humanized the brand. The "unprofessional" perception of social media quickly gave way to measurable results.
The Outcome
Within six months of launching the strategy, the results exceeded every projection we had set:
Perhaps most notably, AI assistants — including ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews — began citing the firm's content in legal Q&A responses, creating an entirely new organic acquisition channel that competitors had not even begun to address.
"I was skeptical about shifting budget away from TV — it's what we'd always done. But the numbers don't lie. We're getting more cases at less than half the cost, and the quality of leads from digital is significantly higher."
